Every year, Real World Wheelers runs an obstacle course and mud bog competition with the local Lions Club. We hold this event 3 times a year, at the Lions Club park in Morrice, Michigan. This event is always free to enter, and free to spectators as well.
The Lions Club does sell food and drinks at these events, and Real World Wheelers will have stickers, t-shirts, and other items for sale, as well. The money raised goes to help the Lions Club keep this little park open to the public, and to help pay the costs of running these events.
We do hand out trophies to the top 3 competitors in both the mud bog and the obstacle course, though this event is meant to be more of just a fun day for everyone who comes out. It is a good event to take the whole family to, and wont cost you anything to enjoy it. We do encourage you to spend some money on the items for sale, and to donate whatever you would like, since that money is needed to keep this event going, and to keep the park open.
We also hand out a trophy for "Spectators Choice", and the judging on this trophy is solely based on a non-perishable food drive. Bring out whatever items you would like to donate to the local food bank, and use those items to vote on which competitor you would ike to win the trophy. The competitor with the highest number of donated food items wins, and so does the local food bank! Anyone can vote, spectators and competitors alike, so if you want to bring your truck out and run it, you might as well donate some food as well, and try to win the Spectators Choice trophy!
The park is located in Morrice, Michigan, 48857, just a few minutes from the Perry exit (105) off of I-69, approximately halfway between Flint and Lansing.
Extraction is provided by way of a farm tractor and strap (straight pull, no jerking) and judging is based off of time and distance traveled through the mud pit and the obstacle course. Trucks run 1 at a time, and will get to run multiple times. After running each truck at least twice, we also allow drivers a chance to do a "free play", where they can go out on the course and play however they want, for a set period of time. Passengers are not allowed on the obstacle course, but can ride through the mudpit, as long as safety belts are installed in the vehicle for them. Safety inspections will be done before the event, and the main concerns are safety belts, rear mounted recovery point, and means of shutting the engine off (key switch, toggle switch, etc...as long as the driver can quickly and easily kill the engine is case of emergency). The order is decided based on tire size, with the smallest tire running first, and the largest tire running last. Competitors will not be split into seperate classes.
